History

Henry Wemme is credited with developing the Overlook Neighborhood in the early 1900's.

Ol' Henry was an entrepreneur of German decent who came to America with "a spool of thread and a needle or two as capital." He made his money as supplier of tents and other related products.

Thanks to him the Overlook neighborhood continues to this day as a highly desirable place to live and work.

Quick Facts

• Swan Island housed Portland’s first airport until the 1940's at which time it was converted to build naval ships to use in World War II.
• Overlook has it’s own Farmers Market next to Overlook Park on Wednesdays from 3-7pm May through September.
• adidas Village came to the neighborhood in 2002 and was developed by the same team as K-Station.
